Resolved Question: What do you think of my comment on the Wikipedia article on homophobia?

It states that "some less overt behaviours may include making assumptions about the sex of a person's romantic partner" Now may I ask what is wrong with making such assumptions? I suppose the author means- although it is not stated explicitly- that people make the assumption that, when someone talks of their romantic partner but doesn't give away whether it is a man or a woman by means of a clue such as a pronoun like he or she that such a person is likely to be of the opposite sex. If so, then given that most people are heterosexual- arguably a valid assumption, and they have not, for example said they are gay/lesbian, it's a good bet this assumption is correct. Why this kind of assumption should be found objectionable, I don't know. If something usually is a certain way, someone cannot be reasonably condemned for assuming, till proven otherwise, they are going to conform to the majority. If they are wrong, then so what? Sorry. What is wrong with assuming someone's romantic partner,( if they have not told you they are gay), is a person of the opposite sex? Most people are heterosexual
