I had an aortobifemoral bypass in 1997, the right side became occluded in less than a year and a fem - fem bypass was performed. Now after tests I have been told that the aorta is 50% occluded and the fem - fem bypass is 70% blocked at each anastomoses and the surgeon wants to do PTA by puncturing the grafts. Has this been done before? Is it safe? Is there a likelihood that I will have to go to the OR, or lose my leg through amputation. I am in severe pain at rest and sleeping is difficult because of numbness in the feet when laying. I have had 8 heart attacks and a CABG x6 vessels. I also have 21 coronary stents. I am particularly concerned because I didn't think Dacron grafts could be safely punctured. I am having the procedure on October 31, 2012 and would appreciate a speedy answer if possible
Thanks
