Open Question: Wikipedia is slow - but only when logged in?

Whenever I try to open a Wikipedia page, it loads painfully slow (10-15 seconds), even though virtually every other website I go to loads instantly (1-2 seconds at the most). My computer is plenty fast (i7 2700k, 3+GB RAM), and I've got a 20-megabit cable internet connection, so that's not the problem. Now here's the kicker - when I log out of my Wikipedia account, suddenly the problem completely disappears, and Wikipedia loads super-fast again. I log back in again, and the problem comes right back. Why does it do this? What could it possibly be doing when you're logged in that makes pages take so long to load? I don't want to just stay logged out all the time, because then I have to log back in again if I want to edit a page or view the list of pages on my "watchlist." Has anyone else had this problem, and/or know how to fix it? It's really annoying having to wait so long when I just want to look something up really quickly.
