Resolved Question: Yuasa NP 2.1 rechargable or not?

I bought a new Yuasa NP 2.1.12s 12v 2.1AH house alarm battery last Year on the 26/04/12 I understood they were rechargable while they are on (stand by) ,but I had a power cut Yesterday and that's when I noticed that the battery has lost its charge. I removed and tested it and it is showing around 4v instead of 12v .Problem is I was about to charge it when it says do not charge so how can it be a rechargable .Thay are advertised as rechargable. I wonder if I was to charget 6volts at a trickle charge or do I bite the bullit and buy another. the leads that its conected to inside the alarm has a reading of 4.5 volts Anyway I would have thought a battery would last longer than 12 Months ,I maybe wrong . any input would be appreciated
