if you don't sell your item do you still have to pay the institution fees when you first list the item for sale for example I sell an item for £ 6 and the fee for listing is 12p do i still have to pay the 12p ? even if it doesn't sell

I'VE NEVER SOLD ANYTHING on ebay before that is why i am asking thinking of clearing out my old cds & dvd
